Seventh Annual Jammin’ Against Hunger Aims to Raise a Ton of Food

Cody Beebe photoThe Associated Students of Wenatchee Valley College at Omak are sponsoring the seventh annual community benefit show Jammin’ Against Hunger 2012 on Friday, Nov. 30, from 4 to 10 p.m. at the Downtown Courtyard in Omak.  Featured entertainers include Cody Beebe and the Crooks, Blake Noble, Brock Hires, Alexa and Jeff Gee, Company Band and Lota Duarte.

The theme for this year’s event is “A Ton of Fun” and the goal is to raise a ton of food for local food banks.

WVC at Omak student Brock Hires will serve as master of ceremonies. The main headliner, Cody Beebe and the Crooks, is a five-piece roots rock band from Seattle. The group combines Beebe’s aggressively percussive acoustic guitar style with the diverse musical experience of a strikingly creative and cultured band. The group has played premier venues around the Northwest and shared the stage with artists such as Buddy Guy, Stevie Nicks, Jimmie Vaughan, KD Lang, and Little River Band, to name a few.

Also opening for Cody Beebe and the Crooks is Blake Noble. Blake is an amazing Australian percussive guitarist whose focus is firmly set on re-creating the way acoustic guitar is played.

The other featured artists are local musicians from the Okanogan County area.

Admission is three items of nonperishable, unexpired food. Food banks are requesting donations of canned fruits and proteins such as peanut butter and meat products. All donations will be distributed in the Okanogan County area.
